Some resources on Catastrophe Theory

  1. The slides of my talk in the Chaos and Complexity Theory Seminar at UW on February 19, 2013. (These slides will be continually updated until the talk is given)
  2. Here is the source code two interactive python programs cusp_1.py and cusp_2.py from the talk. They run under Python3.2 and Tcl downloaded from ActiveState.
  3. The Catastrophe Machine, an AMS Monthly Feature Column by Tony Phillips of Stony Brook.
  4. A set of transparencies from a 1995, San Antonio lecture by E. C. Zeeman himself.
  5. The Catastrophe Teacher, a website of Lucien Dujardin in Lille. It has a very rich and useful site complete with ingenious applets illustrating several "experiments" with the phenomena, including Zeeman's Catastrophe Machine.
  6. A lecture on the Lienard Equation by O. Knill of Harvard.
