Grading: The course grades will be computed as follows. Homework  count 100 points. There are two exams, each counting 100 points. There is no final exam this semester.  The grades are given according to the total scores, and the average grade in the class is expected to be about C or higher. Improvement towards the end of the semester may  not be  reflected in the final grade. Don't try to do everything at last minute, which usually does NOT work for mathematics.  Work hard from day one,  you will be happier toward  the end of the semester, so will I.

Homework:   Homework  is extremely important part of the course, both for understanding the material  and your grade. More you do in time, the better. I have suggested homework problems for you to try, which is minimal. You should try to do more.  Do as many as as you can and think about the formulae and theorems you used, you will get a better understanding. some exam problems will come from the suggested homework problems.  The problems with *  are the ones to turn in. You should read the book before and after the class to understand the material!!!

Exams: We will have two 90 minutes midterm exams (see schedule for detail) as indicated below and no final exam.   Notes/textbooks will not be allowed during the exams. Calculators will not be allowed, and will not be needed.

Missed exam policy: Midterm exam  makes-up  are ONLY allowed in extreme cases,  which  has to be approved by me in advance.  It will be done at one day or two days immediately after the exam.  When there is a conflict with another exam of yours, the higher number course has priority (e.g., Math 475 will have priority  over Physics 460 ).
