Course Content:

Math 322 provides an introduction to partial differential equations and numerous methods for their solution. Special attention will be paid to the structure of equations and solutions, and what physical information may be gained from their study. Topics will include Sturm-Liouville theory, application and convergence properties of Fourier series, boundary value problems for linear second order partial differential equations, separation of variables, Galerkin projection methods, and eigenfunction expansions.

The prerequisites for the course are MATH 321, or MATH 376, or graduate/professional standing.
