DIRECTIONS TO THE UW CAMPUS BY CAR
Coming from
Coming from Rockford on I-90, you take exit 142A and follow the city highway
to Madison for approximately six miles. Take the Park Street exit (exit #261A-B)
and turn right at the end of the ramp. Follow Park Street for approximately
three miles past a railroad underpass. Soon after the underpass,
turn right on Johnson Street and left on Lake Street.
There is a very inexpensive garage one and a half blocks down Lake Street
on the right side. From there, you walk another half block along Lake Street
and turn left onto State Street.
Van Vleck Hall, the math department building, is a 9-floor high-rise just to
the left behind Bascom Hall (the neoclassical building with the flag pole on
top) when you come up the hill from State Street.
Take I-94 west; at the I-90/I-94 interchange, proceed straight.
After a couple of miles, the road bends right under an underpass.
Immediately after the underpass, take a very sharp turn onto the exit ramp
marked Capitol/Washington Avenue/US-151. Follow Washington Avenue into town
until a few blocks before the Capitol, then use one of the sidestreets to
the right to reach Gorham Street (parallel to Washington Avenue, 3 or 4 blocks
to its right). Go left on Gorham Street and follow the 45 degree right bend
at the end (now called University Avenue). A few blocks later,
turn right into Lake Street. There is a very inexpensive garage half a block
down Lake Street on the right side. From there, you walk another half block
along Lake Street and turn left onto State Street.
Van Vleck Hall, the math department building, is a 9-floor high-rise just to
the left behind Bascom Hall (the neoclassical building with the flag pole on

Take I-90/94 east to exit 132 and turn right at the end of the ramp.
After a few hundred yards, turn right again on County Road CV and follow
it all the way into town where it becomes State Highway 113. Follow this
road as it bends a bit to the right several times. It will become a one-way
city street (Gorham Street) and then bend right again (now University Avenue).
A few blocks later, turn right into Lake Street. There is a very inexpensive
garage half a block down Lake Street on the right side. From there, you walk
another half block along Lake Street and turn left onto State Street.
