Chapter 9: Sections 1--2

**Homework and quizzes: ** Homeworks will be assigned each week on
Monday lecture and will not be collected. Quiz on the material covered by
the homework will be given on the following week discussion section.

**Discussion Sections:**

Louis Deaett and David Milovich are TAs in this course.

**Exams**: There will be two * in class * midterm exams and
* cumulative * final. "Make-up exams" cannot be given
except in the most unusual circumstances. The student seeking a make-up
exam should discuss with the instructor in advance and get the approval
before the exam.
** Programmable calculators are not allowed on
the exams.**

**Approximate dates of midterms**:

Monday October 6;

Friday November 14.

**Final exam:**

10:05 A.M. THU. DEC 18, in B130 Van Vleck.

**Grading:**

The final grade will be determined by
two * in class * midterm exams (100 points each), the final exam
(200 points) and your grade in your discussion section (100 points).
Thus the maximum number of
points you can earn is 500.

Grades for the course will
be assigned according to the following standard:

A - 450+

AB - 435+

B - 400+

BC - 385+

C - 350+

D - 280+

F - 0+
