Math 541-001: Modern Algebra

This course covers the basics of group theory and ring theory.

VIRTUAL OFFICE HOURS:

You will need only a browser open, with microphone and speaker enabled, and possibly a camera, and I will send you a code to log in.

HOMEWORK:

Homework will be due on Fridays at the beginning of class.

There will be no credit for late homework except in case of illness, quarantine or family emergency.

HONORS WORK:

If you are signed up for honors work, you will have to do the extra reading of sections 4.4-4.6 and 6.3, which the rest of the class will skip, as well as homework problems from these sections, due at the beginning of the last class of the semester.

EXAMS:

Makeup exams will be scheduled only with the instructor's consent, and only in case of illness, quarantine or family emergency.
