Assignment #3

Due in class, 2/9/06

For all these problems (especially the odd-numbered ones!), it is not enough to simply state an answer; you must show your work. Give all answers to at least two significant figures.

From section 2A: Do problems 8, 10, 12, 16ab, 19, 24, 25, 32, 36, 44, 54, 65 (modified; see below), and 77 (modified: see below).

Note: For problem 65, assume that the floor has area 1530 square feet (not 1520 square feet). For problem 77, give your answers in part (a) to TWO places past the decimal point, and give your answers to part (b) to the nearest cent (not because this level of accuracy is useful, but as a way to demonstrate that you haven't just copied the answer from the back of the book).

From section 2B: Do problems 8, 10, 12, 22, 38, 52, 58, 69, 74, 83, and 91.
