- NO BOOK, NO NOTES, NO CALCULATOR. Only pens, pencils and erasers.
- Problems will not require plugging numbers into formula. Goal is to test your understanding of concepts. You will be asked to derive and explain things. You will be encouraged to make sketches. Good sketches earn you partial credit.
- READ CAREFULLY. It is amazingly common to see students giving wrong answers or being confused simply because they did not take a few extra seconds to read the problem carefully, try to understand what is given to you, what is asked. Don't jump into regurgitating something you vaguely remember because you think you recognized the question.
- DON'T WASTE PRECIOUS TIME: USE EXAM SEATING RIGHTAWAY
- TA and I will be unresponsive after Wed night. You will need to rely on each other after that. Feel free to e-mail to this list to ask questions, organize get-togethers to discuss problems, etc. But don't get fooled into believing you understand the material because I or the TA or your friend solved it for you. Friday, you're on your own. You, a blank sheet of paper and your pencil. 50 minutes only.
