The in-class midterm exam date is October 26.
The final exam is on December 15 (Saturday), 5:05PM - 7:05PM. The location is SOC SCI 5231.
Topics: Basic notions in topology such as metric spaces, topological spaces, basis, continuity, connectedness, compactness, product and quotient topologies.
Textbook: James Munkres, Topology (2nd edition)
Grade: Homework and class participation: 25%, Midterm: 25%, Final Exam: 50%.
Homework: Homeworks will be assigned regularly and will be the main source of problems appearing in the exams. Do not submit your homework by email! If you can not come to a class, you need to drop your homework in my mailbox before the lecture. There may be notions in the homework problems that are not defined in the class, for which you will need to read the textbook yourself.
Discuss math questions: The best way to discuss math questions is at office hours, and email is the least efficient method. If you send me an email asking for a math question, most likely I will ignore your email.
