Miller" Subject: Math 240 Exam 1 To: m240-1@lists.students.wisc.edu M240 A.Miller Exam 1 will be in B130 Van Vleck 7:15pm-9:15pm Thursday Feb 24 No notes, no books, no calculators, no cell phones, no pagers, no electronic devices of any kind. I will be reviewing problems on Wed in lecture if there is a particular problem you would like to see worked email me: section number - problem number. --------------------------------------------- Q. I was just wondering if you think I could get by using the 4th edition textbook. I know that I may not be doing the exact same homework problems but if the sections are the same then I would be doing similar problems. A. I think probably the 4th edition is good enough. Perhaps you can borrow a copy of the fifth edition from a classmate overnight and see if you think there are any differences. ---------------------------------------------- You may want to tell your students that they can drop in for free math help at MATHLAB, Mo-Th 3:30 - 8:30 pm in B-227 Van Vleck. It might take pressure off from your TA's and your office hours. Opening date: Feb 2nd 2005. You could also place a link on your course webpage to let students know of this help option: http://www.math.wisc.edu/~mathlab/ In order to serve the math undergrad student community best, it would be helpful for me to know the dates of your exams. Thank you very much, Gabi Meyer ---------------------------------------------- Dear Professor/TA, Greater University Tutoring Service (GUTS) provides academic tutoring to a wide range of students on this campus. In order to facilitate this process, we need your help to encourage students to volunteer their time and knowledge to help others. If you could, we would appreciate if you could please read the following brief announcement, and post our contact information on the board, at the beginning of class: GUTS Tutorial is looking for volunteer tutors to help provide free and accessible peer-to-peer tutoring to students seeking help in their academic courses. Tutoring with GUTS is a great way to gain volunteer experience, only a 2-hour time commitment per week, and a great way to become more involved in your campus community. Students interested in tutoring with GUTS can register online at http://guts.studentorg.wisc.edu or stop by the GUTS office, at 302A Union South, between 11 and 5, Monday through Thursday. If we could make this process any easier, perhaps by coming in and making the announcements ourselves, please do let us know. We appreciate your time in helping students help themselves.
