Q. I saw on your last '99 exam you had a question, Prove the fundamental theorum of calculus? will you continue to have "proof" questions on this exam? A. Only proofs that are assigned homework problems. Q. I can't find practice exam or old exam on your web page. Can you let me know where it is? A. There are no practice exams. The web page from the last time I taught M211 is at: www.math.wisc.edu/~miller/old/ Q. I have begun studying and have realized that there are A LOT of equations that we need to know for this material. I think it would be helpful if you could put together a list of important equations for us to use during the exam. A. Each student should make their own list of important formulas. This is much better preparation for the exam than reading someone else's list. If you work on such a list carefully and rewrite it several times it will be memorized. Q. Do you think it's possible that we could be provided with blank scratch paper for the 211 test on Tuesday? It helps me think a lot better when I can space out my work instead of cramming it all into a small area, and I know there are others in my discussion who feel this way also. A. Good idea. I will ask the TAs to bring along blank scratch paper to the exam room. Q. I have an issue with the exam date. The Math 211 exam conflicts with my family thanksgiving plans. My family and I plan to leave outside Wisconsin to out grandparents Tuesday morning. Is there any other possible way to take the exam before or after? A. I never give early exams or the same exam at another time. You can ask your TA to give you permission to take a makeup exam. Otherwise you will have to take the regular exam at the regular time with everyone else. The makeup will be a completely different exam to be made up and given by your TA at a time and place mutually agreed upon. Q. I was wondering you would be offering an alternate date for the final exam and if so, when that date would be. A. Sorry, there is no alternative time to take the final exam.
